George vs. Keith

Isn’t it amazing how saying good-bye can be such a hard thing to do in some cases and not so hard in others? Good friends can meet for a good visit and leave on great terms feeling satisfied. Those who are insecure must get as much as they can out of visits and feel a void when the visit is ended.

Last week MSNBC mini-star Keith Olbermann “quit” the network; at least, until it was revealed that he was actually fired. So much time was spent giving his show maximum exposure only to find that the network pulled the rug out from under him. So unhappy was he that he turned the bashing of President Bush into an art form. Each show seemed devoted to making sure that Bush was roasted over the coals on a daily basis. Now who knows where he will turn up? There are rumors that he may actually run for public office.

Compare this to the exit of Pres. Bush in early 2009. He was ready to leave office after eight years of daily stress. He left a content man who believed he had done the best job possible. Love him or hate him, he is now enjoying life with few regrets anxiously looking forward to doting on grandchildren. He has done all in life he wants and he will, alongside his wife, promote projects that are near and dear to his heart. He, unlike Olbermann, will be content with each waking day. Poor Keith on the other hand will be desperately looking for an audience, much like a high school senior looking for a prom date two hours before the dance.

Liberalism needs to bash in order to thrive while conservatism can stand on its own and leave nothing to want. As a former liberal, I thought it was cool to lower my head when the Pledge of Allegience or the National Anthem was being played to serve as a quiet protest against the wrongs of this country. I dwelt on the past perceived injustices and really just looked for the latest thing to complain about.

As a conservative of over thirty years, I have been very content and very stable in my beliefs and see the bright side of things. I say the Pledge with pride and hold my hand over my heart while singing the National Anthem. No matter who is in office I remain constant and want for few things. I  look beyond myself to help others and am quite happy with myself. I can only hope that Keith one day comes close to finding this kind of contentment in his life. God bless America.

Obama Care

I just read about a Cuban dissident who spent many years in a Cuban prison while enduring an equal amount of time being tortured. I am sure he received “free” Cuban health care, but at what price? He now resides in California while extolling the evils of the Cuban government. Wait. Isn't this the same government praised by Michael Moore as the envy of the world?  If you check your freedom and individuality you can enjoy free health care.

 

The irony is not lost that Guantanamo Bay holds terrorists guarded by the U.S. and they do receive great health care and keep their dignity. What of health care here? The “debate” was rigged and despite overwhelming majorities Democrats were still barely able to pass the legislation. Now that there may finally be a sincere debate we are told that it would be criminal to revisit this monstrosity of a bill.

 

Obama has signaled that he wants to meet Republicans half way, but what if he had won? Conservative would have been relegated to the back seat being told, “We won, you lost”.

Let’s do a reset and this time pass legislation that will be healthy for America.

Arizona

Words. What are they worth? Unlike sticks and stones they can’t break any bones, but they sure are used often enough to inflict damage. The damage done by a bullet is bad enough but words add insult to injury. The happenings in Arizona reminded me of a mini-9-11. The nation could come together as a witness to an abhorrent tragedy. Like the Kennedy assassination we want to make it more than it was- a lone gunman with a twisted agenda. Our nation felt a need to mourn for Arizona and yet for all the words pleading for an end to political rancor, many of those doing the pleading have left a trail of regrettable words in their wake.

In my heart I believe that Pres. Kennedy’s death had to be the result of a conspiracy but a lack of hard evidence tells me otherwise. No one but a Communist leaning nutcase has been linked to the assassination, yet this does not stop the believers from touting conjecture as fact. In like manner, Pres. George W. Bush has been accused of orchestrating 9-11. Now either he is a mad genius who could plan such an event in nine short months he had been in office and also perfectly cover his tracks or the whole case lacks credibility. Still this does not stop those who choose to believe the lunacy of such scenarios. Ultimately, there is nothing close to a legal case to present only irresponsible “loose change” that is not deterred by reality.

Now we come to Arizona. Instead of using the precaution they preached, the same people were making charges that Sarah, the Tea Party, and Talk Radio were to blame for the shooting. Gun control advocates, free speech suppressors, and liberals of a certain ilk were painting a picture that was not realistic. Never mind the fact that the gunman was not influenced at all by the people accused of contributing; that simply didn’t and doesn’t matter.

Free speech does not recognize a time to pause simply because one party or the other is in power. It only asks that a place be set at the table for all who would partake. It will be interesting to see just how long those who clamor for civil discourse remain true to their words. For you see, words have power, but have meaning mainly in the sense when they are accompanied by actions. Time will be the greatest enemy of the charlatans who would preach verbal temperance while all the time patronizing the “speakeasys”. Conservative talk shows, free speech, and Palin’s website had nothing to do with what happened in Arizona. This was just a case of a sick man who went too far before he was stopped. Political metaphors and discourse have no meaning to a man who is lost in his own sense of warped reality. Let us strive to avoid following a similar path to our own form of insanity.

Rush Limbaugh, in a very predictable move got a massive group of 100,562 (but who’s counting?) rowdies to march on Washington D.C. to take back the nation, as Limbaugh put it, “for the people and for ME.” Armed with machetes, pitch forks, nail guns with extremely long extension cords, and potato guns the march took place and is currently camped out in front of the nation’s capital in Valley Forge style accommodations awaiting further orders from Mr. Limbaugh. The situation is tense as the army has now surrounded the capital building but is hesitant to take the mob on as Limbaugh has promised to unleash his “spuds from hell” replete with hot butter and margarine knives used as a mixed fodder of conservative fury. We’ll keep you updated.

A similiar march on Washington was held by talk show host Glenn Beck that has now stopped momentarily at the Washington Monument where protesters led by Beck are even now dispersing all the litter that they did not previously leave during the 8/28 rally. “We’re dropping trash and stuff like that to represent the fact that we’re mad as heck... wait, is it after 9pm? It is? Good…to represent the fact that we’re mad as hell and we’re not going to take Washington’s crap anymore,” said the hate spewing Beck. Beck has also cornered the market on trash collection tools, like he is cornering the market on gold, to prevent the place from getting cleaned up.

In a not so stunning move, Sarah Palin, former Alaska Gestapo lead-- Governor, is bringing a violent contingent of polar bear killers via an armada of hunting helicopters to swoop down and incite violence wherever liberals are holding peaceful intelligent public meetings (which come to think of it may be impossible to find, even for Sarah). “This time when I say, ah shoot!, I really mean it, gosh darn it!” There is word that she is looking for intelligent life from politicians in California but has not been successful in her quest. The hunt goes on.

 

Another sad day these sort of goings-ons are happening to incite violence like the tragedy that just occurred in Arizona, folks.

The sad part is, in the liberal’s mind in regards to their version of reality, it really is.

Of Reparations and Such

It is hard to imagine that after the Civil War ended in 1865 the shame of slavery would have ended beginning in early American history with the Christian abolitionist movement and culminating in the Emancipation Proclamation. Instead of dying out as it should and shameful words like “nigger” ending in use, it is ironic that the real shame today is that this embarrassment still thrives today as well as imbecilic words like the “N” word.

Much to our own doing of allowing everyone to be a victim, a sector of our society today still believes that we must undo what has already been undone and by souls braver than ourselves. The hardest thing in life to do is to reflect at the image in the mirror and truly see the warts and blemishes for what they are. The strength of true Christian values would not let this horror of slavery go unnoticed and it seems to come up in every major piece of legislation and national dispute- despite the fact that very few things were national at that time. Our founding fathers held slaves but that was the norm and not the exception with many of them freeing their slaves upon their death. To our eternal credit we convulsed as a nation until slavery was outlawed. To say that Christianity is irrelevant and dead is to deny the realities of how slavery died.

Today many wear the shameful S on their chests with pride in hopes of shamefully gaining economically what rightfully would belong to their ancestors. Even more shameful is the reticence to let go of the word “nigger” from today’s language. We should gladly want to pay out to those who suffered but they are long dead and they themselves did not seek out such payment. Why should anyone today wish to do so except for selfish ill gotten benefit? The state of our nation today allows for such foolishness and who do we have to blame but ourselves?

With a mixed color President there is a renewed call from charlatans like Al Sharpton and his ilk to gain support for reparations. The real fact is that no amount of money will satisfy them as it is never enough. Let’s say we give them reparations and the funds are foolishly spent (being liberals what else would happen?) what “injustice” will they next seek to have financial justice served? Funny how money seems to make everything better.

I say we should put the matter to rest and give a jobs program where they can benefit by having new skills and working with pride to repay back the jobs program and get the “reparations” we may all be able to live with. Oh no, don’t look now but I see the Irish, the Chinese, the Mexicans, and Italians, the gays and lesbians, the American Indians, the transsexuals, the bisexuals all coming wanting their “reparations of justice too”. Heck, here come the handicapped, women, exploited children, the dwarfs and midgets, the circus freaks...
