When Will The Obama Administration Begin?

It remains to be seen exactly when we will see the end of the Bush Administration and the beginning of the Obama Administration. Blame is cascaded upon President Bush as if he still resides in the White House. And to an extent, he does. Guantanamo is still open, the Patriot Act is still in force, secret wiretapping is still going on, tax cut extensions (Bush’s) are being contemplated, the Bush withdrawal plan for Iraq worked- all indications that W. still resides at 1600 Pennsylvania Ave.

For all the touting that this is the summer to celebrate the success of the Stimulus Package benefits, all of the economic indicators show that this celebration has all the similar ring of seeing George W. Bush on an air craft carrier with the words “Mission Accomplished” behind him. There is no good economic news of any kind coming down the pike before the fall elections and this does not bode well for Democrats or Americans.

There must come a time when urgency is shown as to our dismal economic state but that time has not arrived. Instead, we are left with people in the White House playing Mission Impossible. It is impossible to back up what they say when they say they’ve saved so many jobs and just as impossible to measure the proposition that things would have been much worse if not for the Obama economic measures. When things are worse than expected, it is just as impossible to believe it when this administration says that it just takes more time for things to get better. Democrats are big on time tables so why no time table on when the economy will improve? Why not give us a date to shoot for?

Given the fact that tax hikes loom, home sales are tanking, businesses are neither investing nor hiring, there must be a climate to foster the growing of an economy. Instead, profits are demonized, individualism is rebuffed, and attempts to protest are seen as seditious. In Michigan the number one reason why businesses do not locate here is due to our uncertain tax situation- a situation Governor Granholm has not improved. This situation has now spread due to policies of the Obama Administration.

If things continue the way they are, worse looms ahead for us unless we change course. Hey, maybe that “R” for reverse doesn’t sound so bad after all.

Barack Went a Courtin'

Whatever you do, whatever chance you may have, you had better settle with Obama before a case reaches the courts, because like with Keller and Keller, you have no chance whatsoever. How is he so successful? Is it his skill at taking the position which is legally impervious to any argument? Hardly.

The secret to his success lies in the fact that he can make up the rules to suit him as he goes. It’s not hard to win when you’re like the Queen holding court for Alice in Wonderland. How can you lose when you impose your legal views on America and force feed your stance? The oddity is that is has taken so many different twists and turns.

In Arizona, we have Barack taking the stance that not only will the Federal Government not enforce our immigration laws or our borders but he also will not allow any state to do it. Trouble lies on the horizon as other states will be entering the fray taking stances much closer to that of Arizona (see Virginia and Oklahoma for example).

In the Gulf Region, Barack gets told that his job killing moratorium on deep water drilling is not legal but that does not stop him-- no sirree. Instead, he just changes it up a little and whammo! Bang! you have a new moratorium. Never mind that it may kill tens of thousands of jobs; what is paramount is that the Obama legal mind has prevailed over all foes.

In still another battle Barack faces off against those who oppose the cap and trade. Here, he bypasses the legislature, avoids the courts, and puts his stamp on this issue by doing an end around with the EPA spearheading the cause. We’ll just dispense with legalities and discussions and allow the EPA to rain down edict upon edict to enforce the Obama mindset.

Lastly, Obama has “lost” in court over the issue of stem cell research. He’s been told by a court that there is no distinction as to which embryos (live or dead) will be used and so federal funds cannot be used for this purpose. Alas, Obama has the last laugh as funds have already been disbursed so in his eyes it is too late and once again he has gotten his way.

Yes, at the end of the day Obama has “won” many legal victories, but the public is surely not supporting his stances. He is in the minority view on so many issues that one would believe that he is happy to get a 30% popular support for how he sees things. He must keep in mind that no court will help him when he may well get a minority portion of the vote come 2010 and 2012.

Just Wondering

WARNING: This is not for the faint of heart!  Read on if you dare.

I’m Just Wondering:

I’m just wondering if Barack Obama knows that what he is doing also means more taxes for him.

I’m just wondering if Obama pays any cigarette taxes. Who picks up his smokes? Where are they stored? When does he sneak out to smoke them? Where is the National Enquirer when you need them? Catching a shot of Obama lighting it up would be like snapping a picture of a rare bird long thought extinct.

I wonder if when Biden heard they were pulling the plug he thought they meant his hair and not cap and trade.

I wonder if Obama’s 58 states he claims to have traveled to include the state of confusion, state of bewilderment, state of denial, and state of depression.

I wonder if the ocean’s levels rising and dropping have anything to do with whether Al Gore is physically in the ocean or not.

I wonder if Obama is like the wife you want to divorce- what’s his is his and what’s yours is his.

I wonder if  Obama wants his improve his golf game so that his golf score equals his dropping poll numbers.

I wonder if, speaking of polls, when a movie is done on Obama’s life, a professional downhill skier should be chosen to play him. Guess why.

I wonder if, contrary to public opinion, it’s not Pelosi’s snobbish attitude that causes her to look down on people; how would you be look after your 50th facelift?

Is it my imagination or is being unattractive a requirement to be called a liberal leader?

I wonder if Obama schedules work between his vacations.

Maybe Obama is like Jesus- "can any good thing come out of Chicago?"

Just wondering………

The Fabric of Our Nation

The true test of a country is not how much it will allow but how strong the fabric it weaves can remain. As with any cloth there is room for expansion but it should not be stretched out to accommodate anything and everything. The society that we have is like a high quality fabric. It is new (still fresh out of Europe in historical terms) and yet has taken on its own weave as our history unfolds. We have had immigration from other countries that actually has helped our fabric strengthen. We have emancipated slaves and given the right to vote to almost everyone and this too has added to and made the fabric of our society stronger. Still, there are danger signs on the fringes that threaten to unravel all that we have worked so hard to weave.
There must be a point where we say that stretching the fabric of our society will weaken the weave as a whole. Far from accommodation being a show of strength, it shows that we are in danger of changing that cloth to the point that we no longer recognize the fabric when taking a picture from a macro point of view. There is a call by liberals to “go European” in America in all things from religion, drug use, prostitution and health care. We came out of Europe for reasons that things weren’t right over there and we in turn created the greatest societal weave known to man that the world remains in awe of to this day. To go backwards would be to unravel all that we have achieved.
Proposition 8 was passed in California and established a pro-marriage stance that is one of the major linchpins of our society: ensuring the best way to assure the continuance of our population into the future. A judge does not have the moral authority to negate this because it will lead to: what can we stretch our fabric to next? Simply allowing anything to be legal does not make us stronger, we need limits in all things like children do or we will end up standing for nothing and falling for anything. You can rest assured that in all things like the state of marriage, health care, government intervention, wanting to make all people equal financially, etc. there is more to come to the point that it will make us weaker. There will always be someone who wants to cross the next line drawn in the sand. Immigration has been changed from whom do we welcome to who don’t we welcome. The people coming from Mexico are now different in that human smuggling, drug trade, kidnapping are in their scope. Things change and so must our view of different issues to keep our fabric strong.
The strength in being a parent doesn’t come from being willing to say yes to everyone but in knowing when to say no and standing firm. So it is with our country. There is no way Obama can promise everyone economic prosperity because all he can and should do is to provide the climate to help everyone achieve this on their own. His main weakness comes in promising everything to everyone and thus making no one happy and the result is a faltering presidency that seems on the verge of collapse. This constant preaching to America as to what we should do and how he will do it for us is as foreign as adopting Europe as our own. We are Americans first, all we ask is a sound set of norms we can count on to try and succeed, and it is the responsibility of all Americans to make sure this continues. As with the mosque controversy, just because you may technically have the right to do something, doesn’t mean it is the right thing to do. I am sure we will find that there is more to that than meets the eye.
