The GM Government Bailout on Reality

Nice event put on at Kokomo, IN at an auto plant touting the success of the stimulus funds and the bailout of GM and Chrysler. Obama and Biden were there tooting all the horns they could as to how fortunate it was that the firms accepted government/your money. Sounds good even if reality says otherwise. Funny how Ford, which was also in horrible financial shape did not take any bail out money and still managed to make just as good as a comeback as the other two auto makers without being hamstrung by government interference from people who know as much about making cars as they do making a good pastrami sandwich.

In reality, GM could have gone bankrupt, reorganized under legal protection and continue operating all the while under a new plan to “go green” profit wise. Instead of a clean recovery, we have a path muddled by government interference that has cost Americans billions. Even now the government owns 37% of stock and still dictates what GM can and cannot do; this belies Obama’s claim that he “doesn’t want to” own a car company. This is by design because unions got a good deal especially a controlling interest in Chrysler and Obama paid off some political debt for himself. How nice.

GM shareholders and creditors were all screwed in a deal that left them out in the cold. When they protested they were told that it was for the greater good. Whose good? Even now the GM stock price is depressed due to investor realization that the Feds still call the shots. We need to government to divest and do it quickly. Future tax breaks and other goodies will still cost us billions more. How can we pay down the debt? Get rid of bad deals like these and it will add up. The stimulus cost us a trillion, health care laws will cost us many billions, TARP (Toxic Asset Recovery Plan) is costing us billions to keep alive (what it was not supposed to do).

Now compare this to Greece and Portugal. Greece is doing what we should be doing and cutting costs despite public protests. Portugal just today, the day after Thanksgiving, opted out of the bailout option offered to them and instead will work to cut costs to pay down their massive debt. Instead of us leading the way, the sheep are leading the shepherd. Obama’s Far East tour ended with China lecturing us and nations again telling us that printing dollars and increasing debt is not the way go. When will Obama learn? Good thing this is the guy that “gets it.” I would like “it” defined for me.

There are certainly better ways than this.  If Sarah Palin was president, we’d never have had the bailouts, never have had TARP be permanent, never have favored labor unions over Americans- all extreme positions, I know- good thing she’s not president! The sad truth is, Obama will never learn and it was only the 2010 elections that can begin to slow down his bad spending ways. Let’s just hope, like George Washington who died from excessive “bleeding” treatments, that our condition is not terminal.

The Few, The Proud, The Minority

You just have to love Pres. Obama’s Thanksgiving message of getting along with one another, when just less than a month ago he was telling Republicans to get in the back seat and shut up. Enter Bristol Palin and she shows that the fangs are still there showing on Obama supporters. There is an innocent but popular show called Dancing with the Stars where fans get to decide what dancing duo continues and what duo goes home. Well, fans decided that Bristol should stay long after others (a.ka. liberals who know better) thought she should be gone. So the Right Wing Conspiracy once again was conveniently brought out as the only reason she was still on the show. Hmmm.

Wasn’t it just this last election that special interest groups came out and saved a massive wave from becoming a tsunami? Let’s see teacher unions and labor unions as well as other special interest groups did all they could to help losers like Harry Reid escape the guillotine they so deserved. Doesn’t sound like a grass roots all American movement to me. But in reality so what. Everyone can vote and vote they should and if they are a special interest group more power to them for getting their voice heard. And so I say so what to all the Bristol Palin detractors who thought she should be gone but a special interest group kept her in. More to her credit than anything for having the pulling power to flex her Palin power.

Yet another point must be made here. There are those who simply hate the new TSA rules for being searched before boarding a flight-rules that border on the ridiculous and insane. A movement was on to protest these rules by many people opting out of the scanner and instead choosing a pat down with the object being to slow things down and cause disruptions. Those who disagreed with these planners lamented that it was just a few that wanted to spoil it for the many. Hmmm.

Isn’t it the few on the liberal side who want to spoil things for the many in mainstream America? Always there are the freaks who want to ban “In God We Trust” from anything public. They freak out when prayer occurs. It only takes one person filing a lawsuit and a looney judge to overturn what the majority support. Can’t think of an example? Look at the amendment in California that passed recently affirming that gay marriage should not be legalized by supporting the concept that marriage is defined as being between one man and one woman. All it took was one judge and the whole apple cart was upset.

It seems that the minority has a way of getting their word out by being more vocal and thus loud as to what they support. This is after all a republic and not a democracy-remember we chose sanity in the form of a republic and France chose insanity in the form of democracy and got the French Revolution-guillotine and all. In the end I think the good guys will win and liberals will go back to the bottoms of rocks from which they came.

Joe Biden's America

So Joe Biden wants to go back to 2008. Well, I can’t really blame him.  Things were better for Democrats then, who were supposedly holding power for an entire generation. In truth, it has been one short generation, even in dog years.

In a recent interview with GQ the VP relates how Obama appears aloof because of his brilliance. The only way he could have said it better would be, “He’s so %@$! brilliant!” So when all else fails, Obama is once again a genius. Like the Nobel Peace Prize embarrassment, “Where’s the beef?”  I have never seen a president so reliant on image because he has nothing else to offer. Biden claims Obama “gave” Joe the Iraq War to handle; he assembled a “dream team” of liberal experts to fix the economy; he’s hired czars for every ailment known to American society; Congress took the blame for his failed policies; I ask, where is the brilliance and what is he using it on?

While in office every President has displayed a passion for something and without a doubt that Obama’s main passion is himself and his image. Louisiana Governor Jindal’s recent book about the Gulf Oil Spill relates that when he met Obama at the airport, Obama was seething and the President’s anger was directed at Jindal for criticizing him. Rahm Emanuel was reaming out Jindal’s Chief of Staff. Any emotion for the oil spill? Do you think Bush did the same thing when faced with Katrina?

You have to wonder how Obama really felt about Congressmen who let him down by not being reelected; how Obama felt about Americans who let him down by not voting for his party. You have to wonder when this President can say with a straight face that the back lash against his party is our fault for not understanding his actions. What is missing has been missing since Day One-accountability.

He calls the police stupid when they arrest a friend, but when Americans are assaulted at airports, he speaks nary a peep. Candidate Hillary had it right (forgive me) when she said the three most important things for her if elected were "Jobs, Jobs, Jobs." Obama also said this would be objective number one- how’s that working out?

Obama told Republicans that he should prevail on issues because he won and they lost.  Sounds like a father that never gives a reason and only says, “Because I said so!” He said they drove the tiresome car into the ditch, he said they would have to get in the back seat, and yet now he must face them in Congress. Obama had to be slowed down if not stopped during this election so that he cannot totally destroy our American Way of Life. I fully hope for an extinguishing of his administration in 2012. He is not Jimmy Carter Version 2; he’s worse, far, far worse.

Things will get better as the people we elected will now get a chance to stand up for us. If not, we throw them out and try again. Everywhere, Americans are relaxing their grip just a little on their guns and their religion.

TSA and Comedy Hour

We’ve seen this new TSA Regulation controversy from every aspect, but how would a conservative comedian view the whole deal? Wonder no more as what is wondered becomes reality….

Welcome to the show, ladies and gentlemen, and as we are five stories up you will all now be subjected to a body pat down to ensure my safety! What they are looking for are the usual things comedians fear: audience barbs, tomatoes and all types of fruit, and of course the long cane. Seriously folks, hasn’t this whole thing created quite the stir? Man, it seems everyone is getting in on this.

In fact, not to be lost out of the limelight, Pres. Clinton has volunteered to help the TSA grope, I mean pat down, female passengers, female flight attendants, cleaning ladies, whoever is deemed to be a threat. Of course, Clinton backed off when he found out it was men patting down men…

To ensure equal time, Barney Frank has also volunteered to work for the TSA in helping to conduct the pat downs. As a man of the people and being a public servant, he is also willing to be subjected to pat downs even when he is not flying. Yeah… Okay.

As part of the whole deal, the training for these new duties required some unique training techniques to simulate the real things. So, TSA agents were ordered to fan out to all local grocery stores and spend time in the produce department feeling and patting down fruit. I gotta tell you, there wasn’t a tomato that felt safe in the whole country.

To make a hard job harder, the South African track star Caster Semenya, whose gender is in question has to do double duty and go through both the male and female line. Wow, what a deal.

Let me tell you that I feel real safer on my flight when I know that the 90 year old nun with rheumatoid arthritis and poor eye sight sitting next to me has been patted down and scanned. On a personal note, it must be reassuring to her to know that all her parts are still there.

I think the TSA is missing the boat here. In fact, they should be offering passengers a chance to buy their own scans after the flight. You know kind of like how they do at Disney when you get done with the water rafting ride? Heck, it could help pay down the national debt!

The TSA really is the gift that keeps on giving…look at the material it gave me for tonight’s monologue! We’ll be right back.

Transparency

Wouldn’t it be refreshing if the transparency demanded of us all from the TSA when flying would also be demanded of politicians? Think about it. What if Nancy Pelosi owned up to what she was and attended a self-help group for over spenders by going in front saying, “Hello, my name is Nancy and I’m a spendaholic!” What are the odds that members of Congress have to go through pat downs or x-rays?

The IRS wants to see your financial picture for the previous year laid own in your tax return but why was the health care plan not laid out in such a manner for our inspection? The height of hypocrisy and overreach has now attained new heights in the TSA trying to determine whether my 88 year old mother is a terrorist and the military not batting an eye about the blatant terrorist indicators of Major Nidal Malik Hasan which resulted in his cowardly attack within a Ft. Hood Army Base.

The truth is these scans of our body are kept and does not even detect plastic explosives or those hidden in the body’s cavities. We are being sold a bill of goods in which we must bare all but we are not allowed to know all about these body scanners. Don’t want a body scan? Prepare to be groped in ways that should make anyone blush-what a choice.

When looking at a similar situation reasonably this whole matter is all the more silly. When police put out an All Points Bulletin, they try to give as precise a description of the person they seek in hopes that other officers will see this person and arrest them. Imagine if they gave an APB like this, “Attention all officers, a robbery has occurred at the First State Bank so immediately begin stopping everyone and search them for the money stolen.” How would that investigation go?

There may be a need for random stops, scans and searches at the airports and a professional look at the passenger list and a visual look of the people boarding would be much more effective in stopping a terrorist attack without denying our constitutionally protected right against search and seizure. The Bush Administration started this madness and imagine if they were the ones putting it into practice? There would be charges of Gestapo techniques being implemented.

To deny that an actual profile and personal makeup of a terrorist trying to board a plane is to deny reality. In today’s world we want to be as efficient as possible and flying is still the safest way to travel. Why do we seek perfection with such inane techniques that gives no one, not even pilots and flight attendants the benefit of the doubt?

I predict that this system will not be in use on a long term basis and will be abandoned as law suits and outrages will soon mount to the level that will render them unusable. The transparency we really need to be safe lies within the walls of Congress so we can know just what they are up to. No more hidden amendments in appropriation bills that have nothing to do with each other, no more ear marks, no more passing a law without reading it, no more insanity. Put this editorial through your mental scanner and tell me what you see.

Reality Check Please

"Hello! McFly!" Those immortal words still ring out from the classic Back to the Future movies as Biff beats Marty McFly Sr. on the head. I almost wish that someone would do that to Pres. Obama and maybe that would jar him into a sense of reality of just what is going on here in the United States.

It seems hard to believe that after the drubbing received by Democrats last week that Obama would not take a little time to reassess. Instead, he mimics Pres.Bush’s stale strategy of “staying the course.” He also throws in a dose of “It’s not me, it’s you” for good measure. This would not all be bad as this would assure us all that he is one term president but the sad fact is that he is dragging us all down with him.

This is true of most anything that Democrats handle. Save the earth? Go broke. Not enough money for Congress? Raise taxes and screw Joe Blow. Create jobs? Spend 787 billion dollars. Want a city led by Democrats that surely would show compassion? Welcome to a political cesspool. Global Warming? It ‘s your fault. It just never ever really is their fault. They, like the idiocy of evolution, just need more time. Right.

There is no good intention Democratic politicians have that does not end up screwing the average American. Just wait for the Social Security Commission’s findings that will soon be released-somehow you will have to pay for more and get less. Such a deal! Does anyone have the capability to show me the exit door when it comes to Social Security? On my form that I get every year, it shows that I will likely get only 74% of the $1750 due me per month-heck, I’d do better sticking it under a pillow at least then my return wouldn’t be zero. It’d be worth less but so will 74% of $1750.

Just where is it written that politicians need to survive at all costs. They are leeches that suck the blood out of American’s pockets and act like they know what do to with it. I know from experience that you appreciate something more if you actually have to earn it. What would you think of a lazy pot belly father who runs around the bars in a wife beater shirt all day only to come home and tell his wife who earns good money as an R.N. how best to spend the money? That is the same thing being done in Washington D.C.

I submit that Congress would be a much better organization if we made it a requirement that anyone running for office had to have successful work experience in private enterprise. Heck, Obama wants today’s youth to have mandatory community service but I submit that he should have been required to work in private industry and then he’d have more appreciation for what it takes to earn profits to pay the taxes that he so recklessly thinks is his to blow on a date night in New York with Michelle.

Bottom line: Democrats and politicians in general just need to grow up.

The Irony of It All

The irony was thick and rich on Election night as the expected was somehow the unexpected which is what everyone expected…in an unexpected sort of way, of course. Confused? Read on.

Doggone it, Nancy Pelosi was ticked. She knew at the beginning of election night she had her oversized fit for a clown gavel at her side but by the end of the night she had lost it…never to be found again.

Doggone it further, Barack Obama was ticked. Hadn’t he graced the nation with so many speeches some words in the English language are officially listed as MIA? What happened? How could the vote have gone so bad? He was so sure that he had unangered and underanged the American voter so that they were back under his control mouthing the mantra trance words, "Yes, we can." Somehow Americans got it wrong and said, "Oh no you don’t." What a bunch of idiots he was leading, he thought in his most cerebral pose, still clinging to their guns and their religion… Oh, well, I’ve got an itch to spend! Hey Michelle, let’s say we blow this country off for a couple weeks and go east! Heck, money’s no object; in fact, invite 3,000 of your closest friends and lets go blow couple billion abroad. That’ll show them to mess with Barack Hussein Obama! (He’s not kidding about this.)

Doggone it, now Harry Reid was ticked as well. Where was everyone? After the election all the Democratic incumbents were supposed to meet for a victory party. Looking nervously at his watch, he saw that it was 8:30 (one hour past his bedtime) and no one else was here. Oh well, may as well have some cake while I’m waiting. (Cut to 11:30 pm) Hello? Is anyone else here? I’m serious guys if this is some kind of joke, I’m not laughing! Where are you guys?! (Cut to 2:30 am) By this time Harry is prone, sucking his thumb (his usual sleeping aid) and quietly wondering if he really is all alone.

Doggone it, Chris Matthews was really feeling bummed. Barry Manilow’s “Trying to Get That Feeling Again” was playing in the background as Chrissy was wondering when that special tingle he used to feel all the time was going to come back. He longed for that wonderful jolt that gave him that Obama high and left him wondering about his sexual orientation. Tonight, nothing was happening. Darn Republicans were leaving him as flat as a day old beer in a cheap glass. Wait, Harry Reid won! Is it coming back now? Nope. A Harry victory did little more than give him a cheap cramp in his big toe. As he sat there massaging it and cleaning out the lint between his toes, he wondered if his T.V. audience would shrink below the 30 people that watch him every night on MSNBC. Man, he really needed that .0000005 percentage Neilson rating that made him one of the top rated shows on this network.

All across the nation, fellow Democrats were asking if anyone got the plate of the Republican truck that hit them. Americans gave them the keys back and now they were in the driver’s seat. Somewhere, Linus was smiling knowing that he had a better chance of seeing the Great Pumpkin than the Democrats seeing a victory. Another major step toward Americans reclaiming their country had just taken place.

NOBAMA 2012!

Liberal vs. Conservative on Taxes

There seems to be no better time to look at the difference between liberals and conservatives than now. I used to think, as recently as earlier this year, that there was really no difference. President Bush was not a conservative in that he expanded government spending by a sizable margin under his watch. Yet, despite his spending, he had the government financial picture posed  to show a surplus in the near future. There really is a difference.

I would urge you to look at the great cities of our nation. Look at them from the perspective of liberal versus conservative. It goes without saying that the cities that have had non-stop or almost non-stop liberal leadership has done poorly and still headed south. Look at Detroit, San Francisco, Philadelphia, and you will find the cities in deep trouble with no solutions in sight. Now look at Houston and Dallas, conservative-led cities that have almost bypassed the recession. In fact, Texas is the state in the best financial condition and they charge no state income tax.

When an average person needs to tighten their belt, they don’t instead get a bigger one; they see what can be cut. When a liberal needs to tighten their belt, they see the belt as the problem. No matter what tax is charged and how much comes in, it is never enough for them. They just see the new plateau as the new minimum spending level.

It would be one thing if our leaders set the example for us to follow but the opposite is true. Obama’s administration is littered with tax cheating evaders all the way up to the Sec. of the Treasury. Even liberal thinking celebrities don’t practice what they preach. Barbra Streisand is infamous for being tight wad cheap with her help. When producing movies, Michael Moore is well known to film his productions in Canada to avoid paying union scale wages to his employees. Ralph Nader, long considered to be a working man’s friend, has hidden income and assets so as to protect his image. The list goes on and on.

Even in the area of goodwill to their fellow man, conservatives pave the way. Charitable giving by conservatives far outpaces liberal giving. In wanting to do for themselves, conservatives still are able to look beyond themselves to help. Liberals become so wrapped up in their causes and making it look like they care that they have little time to actually help people.

The joke goes that Pres. Bush and Pres. Obama were walking down a street talking when they happened upon a homeless man begging on a corner. Pres. Bush pulled out $50 and gave the man his card and told him to call him on Monday about a job. Obama, wanting likewise to do something as nice, stopped as they happened upon another homeless man. This was his time to shine. So, he reached into Bush’s pocket, whipped out $50, gave him Bush’s card, and said, "Call this guy for a job." What a guy!
